TWO POLICE OFFICERS ARRAIGNED OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF 3-YEAR-OLD

Two police officers have appeared before the Githongo Law Courts in Meru County over allegations of defiling and sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl.

Police constables Nicholas Njagi and James Mutabari are accused of committing the alleged offences on Friday at a rented house in Kinjo Village, Imenti Central.

Investigators told the court that the officers allegedly lured the child into the house, where she was reportedly sexually assaulted before being returned to her mother.

The minor’s mother is said to be a friend of one of the suspects.

The two officers appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Nafuna Sarapai at the Githongo Law Courts.

The case will come up for mention on October 26, 2026, when directions on plea-taking are expected.
