Suspected Bhang Peddler Arrested in Busia After Phone Box Trick Uncovered

A suspected attempt to ferry rolls of bhang to Nairobi concealed inside mobile phone boxes has been intercepted in Busia, following intelligence received by detectives.

Officers from the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau (NANIB) intercepted 25-year-old Titus Okware as he was about to board a Nairobi-bound bus. A search of his bag revealed seven mobile phone boxes, but investigators found that none contained phones.

Instead, the boxes were allegedly stuffed with 1,121 rolls of bhang. Okware was arrested and taken to Busia Police Station, where he is being processed ahead of arraignment. The recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits.

The DCI continues to urge members of the public to report information on suspected criminal activity through its established reporting channels.
