Kitui MCA Arrested Over Alleged Nairobi CBD Phone Thefts
A sitting Member of the County Assembly (MCA) representing Ikanga/Kyatune Ward in Kitui County has been arrested over a series of alleged mobile phone thefts in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said detectives from Kamukunji Police Station arrested Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka along Mfangano Street following intelligence linking him to multiple reported phone theft incidents.
According to investigators, the MCA was being pursued in connection with three separate incidents reported in August and September 2026. CCTV footage reportedly played a key role in the investigations, helping detectives identify the suspect in connection with the alleged thefts.
The arrest also brought to light an outstanding warrant in a separate case. Musyoka is wanted in Criminal Case No. 112/303/2024 after allegedly failing to attend court following his release on bond by Makadara Law Courts, where he had been charged with stealing.
The suspect remains in police custody as detectives complete processing ahead of his arraignment in court.
The DCI reiterated its commitment to pursuing criminal investigations and bringing suspects before the courts regardless of their social standing or public office.
Musyoka’s arrest follows investigations into the reported incidents. The allegations remain subject to determination by the courts.
