DCI Crackdown on Drug Peddlers Nets Two Suspects, 898 Rolls of Bhang Seized
A coordinated crackdown on drug trafficking in Juja, Kiambu County, and Orera in Homa Bay County has resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of 898 rolls of bhang, alongside other illicit substances.
In Juja, detectives from Juja Police Station mounted an operation targeting suspected narcotics traffickers in the area. The operation culminated at Juja Matatu Stage, where detectives arrested 24-year-old Ann Wanjiku Njoki, who was allegedly found in possession of 800 rolls of bhang.
The suspected narcotics were seized, while Njoki was taken into custody pending processing and arraignment.
In a separate operation in Orera, Rachuonyo East Sub-County, detectives from the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau (NANIB), Homa Bay and Migori, raided the home of 33-year-old Fredrick Dunga, also known as Ofisa or Babu.
The raid followed public complaints over alleged drug trafficking around Orera Comprehensive School.
According to the DCI, detectives searching the premises recovered 98 rolls of bhang hidden inside a cup, as well as three litres of chang’aa.
Dunga was subsequently escorted to Homa Bay Police Station for processing ahead of his arraignment.
The latest operations come amid continued efforts by law enforcement agencies to disrupt the illicit drug trade and protect communities, particularly children and young people, from the effects of narcotics and illicit brews.
