DCI Clarifies Child Trafficking Case Involving Enock Peterson Mwangi

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has clarified that two posts concerning a suspected child trafficking case involving Enock Peterson Mwangi alias Mwamburi refer to the same investigation and not two separate arrests.

The clarification follows concerns arising from DCI posts published on September 4 and October 8, 2026, with the Directorate noting that the wording of the October 8 post inadvertently created the impression that the suspect had been released and later re-arrested.

According to the DCI, the October 8 update was intended to highlight further investigative activity in the case, including a search conducted at a house associated with the suspect. During the search, investigators recovered various items, including children’s clothing and other baby essentials.

The DCI has confirmed that Mwangi remains in custody and is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.

The Directorate has regretted the confusion caused by the wording of its earlier communication, while thanking members of the public for their vigilance and concern over the safety and protection of children. Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
